This is an antique early 20th Century mahogany bureau bookcase desk of good quality. The piece features a glazed bookcase top with astragal-glass doors, enclosing adjustable interior shelving. Below, the sloping fall-front opens to reveal a fitted interior with small drawers and pigeonholes for organisation. The lower section is arranged with two short drawers over three long drawers, all fitted with brass handles. The bureau stands on shaped bracket feet and is finished with a moulded cornice along the top.
The bureau is in sound condition but shows expected signs of age and use. The surface has marks, light scratches, and some wear to the finish, particularly on the fall-front and drawer edges. The brass fittings are well-aged, and the interior compartments show wear consistent with regular use. Overall, the piece remains sturdy, with all drawers and hinges in working order.
