An Antique Early 19th Century Secretaire Desk Chest of Drawers ~Delivery Availab
An antique early 19th century secretaire chest of drawers in mahogany. The piece features a fall-front secretaire drawer opening to reveal a fitted interior with pigeonholes and small drawers above three further long drawers. It stands on bracket feet and retains decorative brass ring handles to the upper drawers, with turned wooden knobs to the lower drawer. The mahogany displays a warm colour and attractive grain throughout.
The chest is in used antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. There are losses to sections of the drawer fronts, along with splits and separations to the timber as shown in the photographs. The top also shows marks and age-related wear. The top drawer bows out slightly on the right so the clasp does not catch on the right side but the left keeps it in tight. The drawers remain functional and the piece retains its character and period appeal. Please review the photos for a full assessment of the condition.
