An Antique Early 18th Century George I Oak Coffer Blanket Box Chest ~Delivery Av

This is an early 18th-century oak coffer featuring a panelled front and framed top. The piece has a deep, rich finish and stands on square legs with a moulded lower edge. The lift-up lid reveals a spacious interior for storage. The coffer has simple, solid construction typical of the period, with pegged joints and a later small brass escutcheon on the front.

The item displays heavy wear consistent with its age, including surface marks, scratches, and scuffs throughout. There is visible wear to the edges and corners, with some roughness along the lower moulding. The interior shows signs of historic use, and the underside of the lid has age-related marks and discolouration. The underside of the chest has antique worm damage but it is not active and structurally sound.
